Thinking About The Future

How Do We Prepare For The Future, And Enjoy Today?

Ambition is what drives us. It gives us something to look forward to, something to hope for. But what if you have no idea how to get there? And even further, what if you don't have any clear ambition at all?

To many of us, it feels like the end of the world to not know everything about everything at all times. I know I feel that way, more often than not. It feels dreadful and fills one with anxiety. Why is that? What can we do about it?

These days, the world has become more or less a rat race, with every single one of us rushing to reach the top. The thought that if we are not the best, someone else will be is suffocating. It feels like a tangible reminder of success slipping through our fingers. But there's no single way to achieve triumph-whatever that may personally mean to you.

And if you don't have clear goals, it can feel even worse because everyone is always hounding you with questions about what you're planning to do with your life and the only answer you have is, "I don't know." But that's perfectly okay! It can feel like time runs too fast for you to catch up, but in reality, there is a entire wonderful life ahead just waiting patiently for you.

We see kids our own age accomplishing great things-winning awards, starting successful businesses, going viral online. Things that inspire us but also, at the same, put a lot of pressure on us to do something similar, to prove that we are just as capable.

But here's what no one online tells you- just because someone, perhaps your age, found their calling at an early age, does not mean that you're running late to the party. Life, as much as it seems to be nowadays, is not a race; there is no 'one-size-fits-all' formula for it.

You journey is uniquely your own, and that's exactly what makes it so special. The beauty of life is that you get to make it exactly what feels right- for YOU. You might find your passion early and that is wonderful. But you might take some time and experience a little bit of everything this wide, stunning world has to offer before something truly captures your heart and that is just as wonderful!

If you still feel worried about your future though, it's perfectly okay! In fact, it is completely valid to feel that way. Just don't let it stop you from enjoying the time you have right now. The fact, which may be difficult to digest, is that even if you plan your entire life out, down to the minute; there is no guarantee to how it will turn out and more likely than not, life will surprise you by the turns it takes.

Don't let the fear of the future ruin your today. Take up hobbies and activities that seem fascinating, just for the sake of it. Write, read, sing, journal, scrapbook- do whatever that makes you feel truly yourself. And who knows? Maybe along the way, your passion will call out to you.
